LAB GUIDE / APPENDIX

The browser path (no Node? no problem)

If Node or git won't install, or your laptop is fighting you, do everything in the browser. Switch back to the terminal whenever it starts working.

Terminal stepBrowser equivalent
git clone + editorOpen your repo on GitHub and press . (the full-stop key). This opens github.dev, VS Code in the browser
git add / commit / pushIn github.dev: Source Control icon (left) → write a message → Commit & Push
npm run dev (local preview)Not available. Push and check your live *.workers.dev URL instead (~30 s per change)
npx wrangler tailDashboard → your Worker → Logs (live)
curl to test /api/chatUse https://reqbin.com, or wait for the Round and watch your card

Warning

Without local dev, every change is a push. Make small changes and check each one.

Warning

Don't add vars in the dashboard. They live in wrangler.jsonc and get overwritten on every deploy. Change NAME, TAGLINE, EMOJI and CHARACTER_ID in wrangler.jsonc, in github.dev.

Your project

Pick your Droid Name first. Add the rest when you know it; every field is optional. These details stay in this browser and are never sent anywhere.

A nickname, not your full name. Used for your Student Worker and repo. Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens; up to 40 characters.

The workers.dev subdomain you choose at signup. Same naming rules as your Droid Name.

Add this later, or paste a GitHub repo URL to fill your username and Droid Name.

My URL is different

Optional. Use your public https://…workers.dev URL. Paths and trailing slashes are removed. Leave blank to use your Droid Name and subdomain.

LIVE PREVIEW

Your droid will live at https://<your-droid-name>.<your-subdomain>.workers.dev

Your repo: github.com/<your-github-user>/<your-droid-name>
